About Dr. Freeman
For twelve years, Meggie, a West Highland White Terrier was my best friend. As an only child, she was my constant companion, playmate, fiercely loyal protector from anyone who dared tickle me, and the one I turned to when I needed a good snuggle. Even at a young age I cherished the very special human-animal bond and it is because of this that being a veterinarian is the only thing I ever wanted to be.
As a teenager I volunteered with our family veterinarian both in a small animal hospital as well as on farm calls. I loved all the animals, large and small. I had always loved science, but this opportunity allowed me to appreciate the challenges of clinical practice, but also to experience the unbelievable sense of accomplishment at having been a part of helping and healing animals.
I graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a double major in biology and anthropology followed by a master’s degree in wildlife health and conservation biology at Columbia University. During these years I contemplated a career as a wildlife veterinarian. For my master’s research I studied howler monkeys in Argentina and gorillas and elephants in Uganda, Central African Republic, and Gabon.

Dr. Andrea Freeman is a lifesaver. She properly diagnosed our senior dog, Max when no one else could. Max was fading fast, not eating, lethargic, and weak. Time was not on his side. Dr. Freeman detected a subtle abnormality when listening to his heart and recommended an echocardiogram which detected a severe heart condition that otherwise may have gone unnoticed. Max was given 3-4 months to live. We were devastated, but she gave us hope. Dr. Freeman developed and customized a health care plan that changed everything and his quality of life vastly improved. Exceeding all of our expectations, under Dr. Freeman’s care and direction, Max gave us two more years of joy. When it was time for Max to cross over the Rainbow bridge, Dr. Freeman and her technician, Joan, came to our home so that Max could pass in the comfort of my wife’s arms. Love Dr. Freeman! I've been going to her for a number of years. Not only is she knowledgeable but she genuinely loves animals. We cannot recommend Dr Freeman and her team enough. We have had multiple dogs for many years so high quality veterinary care is a top priority for us … and with Dr Freeman we found exactly that! She treated our diabetic dog, Yoshi, and helped us learn to manage his care. One time we had to take our senior dog to the ER - she followed up and recommended two additional medications, and he recovered in record time! She has always gone above and beyond and has been available any time we have needed her help and/or guidance. Dr. Freeman is amazing with our cats, Theodore and Puffy, and with us as pet parents. 😸 She always takes takes time to listen to our concerns and then take all steps necessary to keep our cats healthy.
